How the sands of Formula 1’s landscape shifts… Although I suspect not too much should be made out of it, nevertheless the headlines screamed: “Hakkinen Last!” This was in regards to Hakkinen’s guest stint as a McLaren test driver in Barcelona last Thursday.
Hakkinen was 3 seconds slower then Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, yet Hakkinen hadn’t been winter testing in 5 years. I guess this means Hakkinen shouldn’t quit his day job? Of course being a “hired gun” for the Mercedes DTM race team isn’t terrible either…
