American Alexander Rossi will make his Formula 1 Free Practise (FP-1) debut Friday in Spain for the Caterham F1 Team, as ‘KOVY’s (Heikki Kovalainen) substitute for the morning session. As this will be the first ‘Yank to pilot a Grand Prix racecar in official F1 parlance since Scotty “Duh goose” Speed’s departure from Scuderia Toro Rosso some 5-years ago...
But don’t expect Rossi, the 20-year old Californian to replace either Kovalainen or Vitaly ‘VO5 Petrov anytime soon... As I’m guessing this is just part of the marketing build-up for us here stateside to get Jazzed ‘bout Austin , eh?
Although Rossi was ‘Juan of my three picks for future Formula 1 drivers, along with thee Young ‘Wicky, aka ‘KanaDuh’s Robert Wickens, now in DTM and part of the Mercedes young lions; and last but not least on my trio was Mexico’s Esteban Gutierrez - who’s currently Sauber F1’s reserve driver. (All three being chosen back in May, 2010...)
Good Luck Alexander!
