This weekend’s IndyCar race in Alabama will see castoff ‘RASSCAR driver A.J. Allmendinger make his Open Wheel Racing return behind the wheel of the Captain’s third wheel; Err, third part-time entry, formerly occupied year round by Ryan Briscoe.
It’ll definitely be one of the countless story lines this weekend, as it’ll mark Allmendinger’s first foray in a single seater in some six-plus years, albeit he’s been busy testing, most recently at Texas Motor Speedway in preparations for his Indy 500 debut, not to mention finishing third alongside Justin Wilson & Marcos Ambrose in this year’s 24hrs of Daytona Sports Car race.
Am presuming he’ll be in the No. 2 Penske Racing car? So watch for A.J. to run up front this weekend at the Barber...
