that I was totally unawares that appropriately I was at Messer Don Kay's 'lil
Autosport Radio Show on what was the tenth anniversary of tony Renna's death at
Mother Speedway, being the last death at IMS - to date...
For purely selfish reasons, as I was a
died-in thee wool CART Fan, albeit in the waning days of what NOBODY will talk
about; Ahem, The Split! Since effectively A-L-L of Championship Auto Racing
Teams Heavy Hitters had defected to the rival Indy Racing League, although
there was still the Chump Carz phase to endure, thus I never knew anything
about Tony Renna who was an "IRL BOY," even if he did race in the
then Dayton Indy Lights series - no less a teammate of reigning '13 IndyCar
champion Scott Dixon, of which I was totally unaware of. As Phillip B. Wilson

As surely there are countless tragic deaths
of motor racing's elite and not so greatly known competitors occurring each
month of the year, nevertheless the names of Maria de Villota, Sean Edwards and
Dan Wheldon are on our collective radars during this month of October,
nonetheless let's not forget Greg More and MOTO GP star Marco Simoncelli who
also fell during this month's timeline, along with such others as Jeff
Krosnoff, Edward “Jovy” Marcelo and Gonzalo Rodriguez - to name just a few...
