So, it is still winter, right? As the just
concluded Holidayed continue thawing, I thought I'd take a very brief 'look-see
back at what did exactly happen in the
waning weeks of Twenty-thirteen?
As here's a very quick recap of what I've
failed to chronicle here at No Fenders whilst outside making Snowmen; Hmm? Has
anybody seen Frosty's pipe lately? Hya!
'BRITTANY SEEKING
TISSUE...
Pirelli held a "Knottsoe" (not so)
secret season's end tyre test (Dec 17-19) with current-spec Formula 1 racecars
to test their proposed 2014 rubber with all F1 teams having been invited, but
only four squads decided to participate: Red bull, Ferrari, Mercedes and Toro
Rosso - with Mercedes "Brittany," aka Nico Rosberg having the most
fun at the test when a tyre burst unexpectedly at full chat to which Nico
quipped upon his TWIT-ER account that he needed some new tissues to wipe away
his surprise spin at 320k/ph!
Yet, remember this is why Pirelli wanted to
test its next year's rubber and the offending tyre in question was after all
only a prototype version which Pirelli quickly noted will not be used next
year...
GUTIERREZ CONFIRMED AT SAUBER
Although not totally unexpected, this is good
news, as I'm a fan of the young Mexicali Gran Primo Piloto - with news leaking
out upon Winter solstice that Esteban Gutierrez has
been re-signed at the Sauber F1 Team next year and that the young Rooskie' Sergey Sirotkin
has been named the teams "Simulator Jockey;" Err Test/Reserve Driver
as he's still failed to secure his mandatory FIA Superlicense to date, but
probably will see action in the four two-day test sessions in 2014, not to
mention obviously taking part in Friday Free Practise-1 in Sochi...
'UNION JACK SHINES
IN SEBRING
2013 Indy Lights winner Jack Hawksworth, nee
"Union Jack" obviously to his British heritage has impressed mightily
in his second ever 'B-I-G CARZ (IndyCar) test in Sebring, Florida at the
controls of a Dale Coyne Racing racecar, as the Bloody Brit pursues his chance
to race in Indy Cars in 2014...
SOME 'AUSSIE
LINGO...
Found 'Aussie Will Power's typical dry wit
humour very funny in his Holidays wish
to us all which I posted previously in;
SAFETY MODS FOR DALLARA
DW12 ANNOUNCED
In the wake of past accidents, most notably
Justin "B-I-G UNIT Wilson's nasty wreck at Fontana, IndyCar and Dallara
have collaborated to introduce new measures to hopefully reduce side impact intrusions
with new mandatory 2014 safety mods...
