A Weekend of Upsets...

Didn't get to watch or listen to Saturday Night's Texas IndyCar race, but did enjoy a  very gripping Kuhnaidiun' Grand Prix race from Il Notre Dam which saw me pulled in multiple directions...

Not sure how exciting Texas Motor Speedway's 600-kilometer IndyCar race was overall since 'DJ WillyP, aka Will Power led for over half of the race before getting busted for speeding, again! Whilst I totally feel the pendulum 'O momentum has swung 'Brittany's (Nico Rosberg) way, as the German served further notice to his exalted team-mate Lewis Hamilton that he won't go quietly into the F1 landscape in regards to who'll probably become this year's Formula 1 world champion.

Hence, returning home late Saturday evening, I was happy to read; Err hear via my NFB Newsline for the Blind service's access to IndyStar's sports pages that 'FAST EDDIE, nee Ed Carpenter had won the Texas race ahead of Penske heavyweights Power and Juan Pablo Montoya...

Meanwhile Up North eh!  Where its GURR-REAT! To hear that F1 and Oh 'KanaDuh have inked a new 10-year contract extension to keep the Formula 1 circus returning to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Il  Notre Dam until 2024!

Better yet was Rosberg capturing Pole position "Fair 'N Square" over Hamilton, as the Mighty Merc's appeared to be on their way to another intra-team scrum for victory, while "TWINKIEBOY," aka Seb' Vettel threw down a flyer of a lap to unbelievably wind-up P3 ahead of the two impressive Team Willy' Boyz with Daniel "Ricky" Ricciardo's 'Seester Red Bull sixth.

Thus on a purely sentimental angle, as I've said before, I want Nico Rosberg to be crowned world champion this year and thus naturally wanted him to win the race, as he didn't endear himself any further to Hamilton with his start to the race, yet firmly held  off the charging Brit throughout.

Then I erupted loudly in glee over Hamilton's retirement - when he'd used up his brakes, while Rosberg's car was suffering the very same mechanical maladies on the same lap.

thus with a wounded racecar, Rosberg appeared to potentially be a sitting duck and I found myself torn between him winning the race and rootin' for Checa' (Sergio Perez) to claim his maiden F1 victory for the Minnowesqe Force India team, all the while with fingers crossed chanting for Felipe Massa to overtake the two Red Bulls tantalizingly close ahead of him with just a few laps remaining, before chanting for Ricciardo who'd  finally gotten ahead of the slowing Perez who was struggling with failing brakes! As Ricciardo completed the pass for the lead just prior to a massive race ending shunt involving Perez and the somewhat hapless Massa.

Therefore, the likeable 'Aussie scored his maiden Grand Prix victory in only his seventh start as a bonafied "Top Team" driver, with his quadruple world champion team-mate Vettel giving Red Bull a 1-3 finish with Rosberg the strudel in the middle of the Austrian (team) sandwich! As ironically Ricciardo is the first new Formula 1 winner since Rosberg's maiden F1 win at the Chinese Grand Prix in 2012...
