The 37th edition of the DAKAR begins in
earnest today, as the traditional Super Stage ceremonial round took place in
Buenos Aires, Argentina yesterday...
this year's race will once again be ultra
grueling, and I'm sure packed full 'O surprises, although I'd expect for the
Mini's to once again compete for overall honours, as I'm coyly noting this
year's BMW Flotilla as;
Although I was indeed surprised when futilely
searching 'round duh Intrawoods, nee Zed Internetz for any info on this
prestigious race to discover that Peugeot is making its return to the
"DAK-CAR with a three car "Works" effort featuring an All Star
driver line-up...
While I'm ARSE-sumin' Robby 'Dirtman Gourdoun
(Gordon) will be contesting the event in his Monster Hummer again, although
Robby will have company in the 2WD camp, since Peugeot's also chosen this route
over the tried 'N true 4WD that Mini uses to currently obliterate the field!
Also ARSE-sumin' the race will once again be
shown in 30min vignettes on "Peacock-lite," nee NBCSN, most likely
with "The Voice," aka Leigh Diffey narrating? But as ALWAYS! Check
your local listings...
Notes
Obviously, it's early days yet, but our
"Hero" Robby Dirtman "Gordoun )Gordon) finishes off Day-1 in
second place aboard his 2015 HST Gordini, while last year's winner Nani Roma won't
be repeating, having suffered a 6hr mechanical delay!
"Peacock-lite" (NBCSN) will indeed be
airing this year's Dakar, beginning its coverage on Monday, January 5th. For program
show times, see below, although be aware that it states "Subject to
Change."
