One Internetz website's headline says it all,
proclaiming: Lotus makes a Mockery of Junior Formula... In regards to the
recent news that Spanish female racer Carmen Jorda, who had a less than stellar
half season's outing in Indy Lights, not to mention pretty dismal results over
three seasons in GP3, has just been announced as Lotus F1 Team's Development
Driver for 2015.
As the story points out, this isn't to say
female racer's are bad or not deserving of consideration, let alone Bonafied
racing seats in all disciplines of motor racing, most notably Open Wheel
Racing, which now will see "Symona-Symona" (De Silvestro) returning to Indy Cars this year in a
competitive ride at Andretti Autosport for the season opener at St Pete. Along
with Team Willy's Susie Wolff, who's a very accomplished driver and does a fine
job as Williams F1's Test Driver; as they're just two of today's current
example of leading Femme Fatales.
As it was a 'Wee
bit sad that Simona de Silvestro was busy selling her wares in her native
Switzerland - by pumping up perceived interest for Formula E in attempt to keep
her name in lights as she tries rekindling her racing career...
Yet, what more can you say then what Jorda's
past (2012) GP3 team-mate Rob
Cregan tweeted recently:
"Carmen Jorda couldn't
develop a roll of film let alone a hybrid F1 car."
YOUCH!
While Reuters' news Formula 1
correspondent Alan Baldwin noted that, last year, Jorda failed to finish a
single race in the top ten, despite the same GP3 car proving "a winner
when it was put in the hands of Britain's Dean Stoneman". (With Stoneman storming to two wins, a second
and Pole during his four race stint in the same seat en route to finishing
runner-up in the GP3 championship!)
As Cregan was the most outspoken critic
towards Jorda's F1 signing, while GP3 champion and GP2 winner Mitch Evans coyly
tweeted to Lotus:
"It's not April 1st
yet".
With 2014 GP3 competitor and race
winner Richie Stanaway simply tweeting:
"LOL".
While You'll know
something definitely smells fishy 'bout this deal, if Will Stevens cannot
obtain his mandatory FIA Superlicense in time for the Australian Grand Prix while
Jorda does...
