Yeah, Y'all may think that's a clever tie-in
to this weekend's "Double-your-Trouble" wacky weather Belle Isle
IndyCar races, eh?
As I'll point out the obvious; did Y'all
realize that Honda's two victories to date have both come in wet weather races?
Not to mention their vastly improved form over the weekend. All of which leads
me to believe that Chevrolet does indeed have a horsepower advantage, although
not sure how much in regards to combined with their apparently superior
"Body-by-Mennen" AFX Aurora Aerokit.
Although le 'Hanburgular, aka SeaBass, nee
Sebastain Bourdais was the winner Sunday, reportedly if the race had gone full
distance Marco Andretti in a Honda was poised to win due to his taking fuel
last, as Honda leads Chevy 2-1 in the rain.
And although Indycar.com hasn't quite fixed
my request for Screen Reader compatibility, they're getting warmer, since now
A-L-L they've gotta do is make the "Click-to-Play" link accessible!
As its good for Mwah that at least the races are available
via Zed Internetz, especially since my TV "DONE BLOWN UP!" The night
before leaving for Indianapolis; Aye Karumba!
Was super pleased for Carlos 'Silk Munoz
getting his debutant B-I-G' CARZ victory Saturday, and have NO Problema with
the race being called early, as
fortunately I've only experienced having to leave the grandstands once ever for
potential Lightning Strikes Up North Eh! At Edmonton, which I miss NOT being on the IndyCar
calendar anymore, obviously along with my forlorn Home track Portland; but I
digress...
And Bully for Graham Rahal, who just might
get his second ever IndyCar 'W this year, as who'd Uh Thunk I-T! That Graham
would be Hondres' top performer; YIKES! While it was nice to read Sunday
evening that Taku-san' (Takuma Sato) had scored his first podium in two years;
Huh?
While I think Tristan Turbo' Vautier was
stealin' a page outta Sato's playbook. What's that line 'bout
NO ATTACK, NO CHANCE! As Vautier forced his way thru the field to record Dale
Coyne's Driver Merry-go-Round best season finish with an outstanding fourth
place result!
Meanwhile Conor Daly did much better this
weekend, now that he wasn't "Fueled-by-Bacon!" His Indy 500 sponsor
where he unfortunately went up in flames; NO Bacon grease jokes here; Hooah! As
Daly netted his first Top-10 IndyCar finish, by bringing thee "Mayor 'O
Hinchtown's" (James Hinchcliffe) car home in P6!
Surprisingly, Honda's swept eight of the Top-10 places, with Bourdais and
Juan Pablo Montoya being the bookends, as Montoya's low fuel saw him drop
to tenth at the very end of the race.
And one positive aspect for Mwah of having NO
Telie' to watch; Err listen too, is NOT having to get up at Oh-DARK 30 to sit in the dark 'N
listen to an early morning race, i.e.; those 'Uber insane Scooters (MotoGP)
at 4:30AM Pacific, having long ago scrambled
(lost) my ability to record anythingy' on the 'Ol School Memorex.
And while I know the reason why, I find it a
'Wee bit maddening that there's ZERO print media, nee Newspaper coverage of the
BADDEST ARSE Motorcycles on the planet, as nary a peep 'bout this past weekend's Italian Grand
Prix race at Mugello, where Hector
Barberá set the new Mugello track top speed record!
As Barbera went an incredible 350.1kph on his
Flying 'Duc! Which as Professor Steve Matchet would say, in Old Money is 217.8mph;
SHEISA! As that's Freakin' incredible, especially upon a fairly unprotected
"Crotch Rocket" missile. As the unheralded Spaniard is riding an Open
Class Desmosedici GP1441, last
year's factory bike.
Although even more incredible was Marquez setting
the All-time Speed record for MotoGP at this year's season opening race in
Qatar with an astounding 355kph blast!
As apparently Indy Cars isn't the only motor
racing arena Honda's currently suffering in, as MotoGP Superman Marc Marquez is
finding it harder 'n harder to drag his Repsol Honda to the sharp end of the
grid, as the reigning Double world champion's chances of Three-peating are looking increasingly slim, if not
impossible, now finding himself a staggering 49-points adrift of P1!
Marquez first unexpectedly missed out on
making the Top-12 shootout for Pole in a totally uncharacteristic P13! And then
faltering once again when crashing late race while battling for a podium finish
after having rocketed to fourth on lap-1!
As Yamaha's decision to give George Lorenzo
an unexpected birthday present with an early contract extension seems to have
been very clever now, as the 28yr old Spaniard won his third MotoGP race
in-a-row and has cut the ageless Doctors' (Valentino Rossi) points lead to a
mere six markers with two-thirds of the
season remaining.
As Lorenzo won ahead of crowd darling and somewhat surprise Pole
winner Andrea
Iannone for the Home-team Ducati Corse effort ahead
of another crowd favourite, fellow countryman
Valentino Rossi, while rookie MotoGP Knee dragger Maverick Viñales finished
an excellent seventh, which I believe is his career best finish to date...
