Can I-T really be true? NO More Uncle Bernaughty!
As I've been so overjoyed, just haven't had time to Scribble 'bout I-T!
Yeah, certainly Y'all are aware of the recent
announcement a Fortnight ago of Liberty Media's completion of purchasing
Formula 1 from CVC Capital, and that their first move was to graciously put a
one Mr. Bernard Charles Ecclestone out to pasture.
Don't know why, but when I first awoke to the
news confirming "Uncle Bernaughty's removal as Emperor of Formula 1, the
song Ding Dong, The Witch's Dead! Started playing in my Head...
As I'm not imploring his demise, it's just
that for my entire life of following Formula 1, Bernie's always been in charge,
and his Dictatorship has worn excessively thin uponst Mwah!
Having begun my F1 Odyssey three-plus decades
ago underneath what ultimately became known as The Max & Bernie Show. Yuhs
know when Sir maXXum', nee Max Mosley was Bernard's Whipping Boy, albeit he
hadn't taken over for the departed Jean-Marie Balestre
quite yet. As Monsieur Buhluster' would remain in charge of FISA for several
more years before Mosley wrested control away from him...
Yet on another note, that timeless saying: Be
Careful of What You Wish For! Is totally Front 'N Center on my radar screen
regarding this momentous occasion. As newly installed CEO along with his existing
title of Chairman, thee mustachioed "Chevy Chase" (Carey) is already
throwing round such Bombastic Sound Bites as Twenty-one Super Bowls, Every F1
event should be a Super Bowl, and Bernie's Office is too Small for Us!
Yada-Yada-Yada...
As noted, Liberty Media didn't buy F1 just to
add I-T to its Portfolio, but like Mr. E's Numero Uno underlying motivation for
moving the sport forward - Liberty Media aims to make a tidy profit from their
acquisition...
