RETRO: Before Flying came Bicycles...



How does that 'Ol Queen song 'bout wanting to ride my bicycle go?


Ah, whilst Seattle's in the midst of a Kuhnaidiun' Smoke laden Forest Fires induced Hazy Skies Heat Wave at the height 'O Summer, what better time for the Air & Space Magazine's article about two world famous bicyclists to appear, eh?

At the end of the 19th century, bicycling was sweeping the nation, especially with the new "Safety Bikes" sporting two wheels of similar size!

As two self taught "Meckinick's" (mechanics) not only took up the sport of cycling, but as history shows, ultimately began selling their own contraptions from their Wright Cycle Company's premises in Dayton, Ohio circa 1895. Over a half dozen years before cycling's greatest race, thou Tour de France held its first edition in 1903, ironically the very same year the Wright Brothers next invention flew!
