Thanxs to Jeffrey Iannucci of O.L.D. Fame;
Hya! Nee One Lap Down, who's come up with another of his momentous IndyCar
Driver nicknames, this time in deference to one of the series most favoured
sons...
Yo Randal, Thy
Moniker King 'O No Fenders, think you've got some serious Competizione on your
Hands Dude!
Now every Bloody single time I hear Charlie
Kimball's name via Newspaper, Internetz' or TV, I immediately smirk as I say
out loud - Narly Pinball!
Which is apparently a slight aimed at his
relentless obsession with not letting anybody by, as I immediately think of the
usually Chilled Conor Daly goin' BLUTO! Over his In-car radio regarding 'Ol
Pinball's driving antics at Gateway this summer.
As Jeffie' was
politely pointin' out how the Offensive Driver's name ryhmed with Narly Pinball...
Hey! Wasn't that 'Ol Narly I just saw hiking
'bout Hurricane Ridge? With his wife Kathleen. And DON'T they know that Doggies
aren't allowed in Washington State Parks. And where's Thar Doggy Bags...
As leave it to the Indianapolis Star's
Motorsports Reporter Jim Ayello to write a clever piece 'bout the couple's
month long camping adventure following the conclusion of Snorehoma.
But the Kimball's AIN'T exactly Roughin' I-T!
Hitting the road in their mint 40-footer' Montana RV, replete with shower, Flat
Screen TV and propane powered Oven for bakin' cakes!
As Narly; Err Charlie, who I'm sure is a
really Decent Bloke Off-track, comes from motor racing stock, as his father
Gordon, a racecar designer, who's Patrick Racing Wildcat won the '82 Indy 500,
along with stints alongside John Barnard at McLaren and Ferrari in Formula 1.
Not to mention engineering some Chap named Ayrton Senna in 1990...
As I was totally unawares' that Charlie was
actually born Across Duh Blimey Puddle in Chertsey, Surrey England in the
Bloody UK before growing up in Camarillo, CA. Presumably when his Pops' was
taking up station down the road at some place called Woking.
Thus, it would be easy to see him bonding
with fellow CGR racer Max Chilton, as Charlie has extensive seat time on the
European Open Wheel Racing ladder, not to mention having raced for Carlin in British
Formula 3 in 2005, where he finished an impressive runner-up to Carlin team-mate
Alvaro Parente,
having scored five wins.
His European racing career peaked with a
stint in the Formula Renault 3.5 in '07 driving alongside Guido Duh Dutchman',
aka Giedo van der
Garde - before switching to Indy Lights.
Since although I've never been impressed by
Kimball's driving, I am curious where the Californian lands for next year's
IndyCar campaign, now that Cheeps' officially announced he's slimming down to a
two car operation next year.
Hmm? He'd fit perfectly at SPM alongside his
Minister Pal Hinch', Yuhs know, thee Mayor 'O Hinchtown who presided over their
wedding...
