As Nobody Knows Indy Cars quite likeMiller does…
Obviously this is one story I’d Hoped to not
have to “write,” Err scribble for several years to come here on No Fenders, but
life marches to it’s own Drum…
Ironically, Karmically, Symbiotically, or once
again being Splashed by thoust Seas ‘O Synchronicity here upon thoust Isle of
Nofendersville, I was busy celebrating my Pops’ Tomas Senior’s Birthday the
very same day that IndyCar’s esteemed Curmudgeon ‘Ol R’, aka Robin Miller was
posting his Letter to the Racer Nation revealing just how serious his current
Illness is, and what his prognosis is. For which All I can say, and I know that
Robin wouldn’t want to hear it, I began Crying when reading his Racer.com
article, since it sounded to Mwah like he was saying Goodbye to All of us…

Reportedly IndyCar Approved the use of stickers
Marshall Pruett had made for the past weekend’s Nashville Street Race at the
bequest of several IndyCar teams, for which ‘Ol Hobbo’, aka HobbsCapp’ or
simply David Hobbs wouldsublimely Quip if You’ve got eyes as sharp as Rats,
Hya! Then perhaps Y’all spotted said Deckle adorning some of the IndyCar’s over
the weekend…
If you want to get one of the Get Well Robin Miller
Decals, then check out the link below, which I think tells you how to acquire
one for which Robin’s Donating proceeds to St. Judes Childrens Cancer Fund.

As Nashville Pole winner Colton Herta said “this
One’s for you buddy, Keep Fighting!” Noting how Robin’s in Hospital right now,
while Helio Castroneves said Miller’s been Out many times, but this is just
another “Pitstop!”
And it’s quite interesting to Mwah how two men who’ve
spent Thar respective lives spending copious amounts of time at Mother
speedway, aka Miller and bob Jenkins are now fighting serious Illnesses, for
which naturally I Hope the best for Both of them!
Whilst how can I say or write anything better
or what’s already been said about Robin? Other than repeating my previous memories
of Miller, having had the pleasure of being briefly introduced to him once in
the IMS Media Center Wayback in 2009. When like his Good Buddy TK’ follow your
Schnoz! Kanaan says on Pruett’s Indianapolis 500’s 50th Anniversary video, he
was adorned in a T-Shirt and his legendous’ Sweatpants!
Not to mention that Daniel Baines Cooper who
introduced Mwah to Robin also snapped a picture of Miller’s typical lunch
Buffet on Display for All of those in the IMS Media Center, as I recall a
family sized bucket of KFC Chicken with All of the Fixins’, i.e.; Mash
Potatoes, Gravy, Biscuits, etc. being Brazeningly laid out upon one of the
tables…
Which Y’all can
read about in my Monstrous four part No Fenders tome titled Surviving Indy in
the following link.

Whilst I also recall when dropping by the IMS Administration
Office to Thank the very Nice, Friendly woman named Jana who’d approved my IMS
Media Center Credential, My Indiana Sherpa Danny b’ kept pestering her on what’s
Going On Outside? As Thar were multiple Mobile TV Media Trucks parked in the
Parking lot with live Cameras set up waiting to break the News on ‘lil TG’s,
nee Tony George’s Ouster from the Indy Racing League and as CEO of Hulman and
Company, on the Wednesday morning following the 2009 Indianapolis 500!
As I only bring this up since it was Miller who’d
originally broke the story on SPEED TV and had been Skewered for reporting such
erroneous Gossip simply in vain because he didn’t like Tony George who’d
effectively gotten him Fired from the Indianapolis Star Newspaper after 33 years,
but Miller was correct again, even after George publicly Denied Any such doing
had occurred, before eventually being replaced by Randy “The CandyMann” Bernard…

And it’s still amazing that after meeting a
total Stranger just once ever in his life, in what effectively was a two minute
“Meet ‘N Greet” as Miller was being hustled off for an interview, Robin has continuously
answered my Zany, Wacky, Goofy Emails about various IndyCar topics for the last
12 years! Since although we weren’t even formally Acquaintances, I consider
Robin to be a Friend!
As I like many will miss his Straight Up,
Unfiltered Say whatever comes to His Mind initially unique reporting style for
what’s going on in Indy Cars…
Here’s the great video
Racer’s Marshall Pruett put together in 2019 when he “Corraled” several IndyCar
Drivers into commenting on what was Robin’s 50th Indianapolis 500 as
a Reporter, which is definitely worth watching!

Although after I finished scribblin’ this, came the Great News that Miller’s Mailbag would be returning to Racer.com this Wednesday, Arse-sumedly with Robin answering the Questions as usual. Not to mention that I’ve since also read Robin’s take upon the then upcoming Nashville Street Race also on Racer, so it’s Fantastic having Miller back in the Saddle! Since last time I checked, Robin’s letter to the Racer Nation had garnered 40k views! As let that sink in for a moment…
